To understand the issue better, what is the make and model of the computer?

Let's run the power troubleshooter and check if that helps.

a. Press Windows key on the keyboard.

b. In the search box, type 'Troubleshooting' and press Enter.

c. Click on 'System and Security' and click on 'Power' click on next to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:
I suggest you to create a new power plan and customize the same according to your needs. Check if it helps.

the problem is back.  I even updated to build 1511, and that didn't solve the problem.

I was reading a pdf and the computer go to sleep mode after 2-3 minutes.

With the default settings, the display should at gone into blank screen before going to sleep and even that didn't work.

tell me a command that I should run, and I'll send you the results.

thanks

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Did you try the steps I have suggested in the previous post? If not, please try those steps and keep us updated on the status of the issue.

You may also reset and restore the power plans to default. Check if it helps.

  1. Right-click on Start button and click on Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes and hit Enter.
  3. Exit command prompt.

Note: This would reset the power plan settings to default. Any customized power plans are would be removed.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of the issue so that we can assist you further.

Hi,

Did you check to see that you don't have your screen saver set to come up after 2 minutes?  It will go to sleep if the screen saver is set to a 1-2 minute timer as well.

Please follow the steps below to change your system's sleep settings.

1. Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Change your desired sleep timing in this Tab.

2. Now, click on Additional Power Settings > Change Plan Settings >Change Advanced Power Settings.

3. Expand Sleep and give the appropriate time.
